I first painted "The Alligator" plein air when I travelled with my good friend Ray Hassard. Then I didn't even know that these formation had a name, but I loved the red color of its rock and its shape. You can see Zoroaster and Brahma Temples far in the distance. This is my first studio painting of this unique place in the Grand Canyon.
